The Heaviness of Nothing is a one woman circus show about mental illness. The title is a line I pulled straight from my journal that I wrote while in a dark bout with clinical depression. This show mirrors my lifelong fight with mental illness. The idea for this show first came to me in 2023 after completing a lengthy treatment process for my treatment resistant depression. I needed to make this for my own journey and healing process.
It features multiple circus disciplines including aerial hoop, cube, juggling, and hula hoop. This creation is my way of giving back to this art form that has given me so much.
I want the audience to feel seen and know they are not alone. Although it may not seem like it at points, the light at the end of the tunnel will be there when you’re ready for it.
